On the morning of November 8, the Nghi Loc District Police Investigation Agency announced: The unit has just coordinated with the police of the communes: Nghi Van, Nghi Xa, Khanh Hop to arrest 2 cases of 2 subjects: Bui Van Ky (born 1965), residing in Vien Thanh commune, Yen Thanh district and Hoang Quoc Dung (born 1969), residing in Mon Son commune, Con Cuong district for illegal transportation.endangered animals,precious, rare

According to the investigation agency: From the beginning of October 2021, through the work of grasping the local situation, the reconnaissance team of the Criminal - Economic - Drug Crime Investigation Police of Nghi Loc District Police discovered a number of subjects inside and outside Nghi Loc district showing signs of colluding with each other to buy, sell, and transport endangered, precious, and rare animals, then bring them to restaurants in different areas to make a profit.

At about 19:15 on November 6, the Criminal Investigation Police Team on Criminal - Economic - Drug Crimes, Nghi Xa Commune Police, Khanh Hop Commune Police patrolled on Provincial Road 536 in Nghi Xa Commune and discovered and arrested Hoang Quoc Dung driving a motorbike transporting a snake carcass containing 2 Java pangolins, totaling 14kg. Additional seized evidence included 1 mobile phone and 1 motorbike.

Dung confessed to buying these two pangolins on the Laos border and bringing them downstream to sell for profit.

Previously, on the evening of November 4, the Criminal Investigation Police Team on Criminal - Economic - Drug Crimes of Nghi Loc District Police, in coordination with Nghi Van Commune Police, patrolled and controlled National Highway 48E, in Nghi Van Commune, and discovered and arrested Bui Van Ky, who was riding a motorbike, transporting a plastic bag containing a Java pangolin weighing 7kg. Bui Van Ky confessed to buying this pangolin from an unknown man on the Laos border for 10 million VND to sell for profit.

It is worth mentioning that all three Java pangolins in the two cases above are endangered, rare, and precious animals that are prioritized for protection.

Currently, the Nghi Loc District Police Investigation Agency has handed over these 3 Java pangolins to the Pu Mat National Park Forest Protection Department for care, rescue, and release back into the natural environment according to regulations.
