Jesse Lingard has signed a new 4-year contract with MU, receiving a salary of 100,000 pounds/week.

Early morning on April 7 (Vietnam time), Manchester United (MU) announced that it had extended the 4-year contract with English winger Jesse Lingard to keep him at Old Trafford until 2021.

If he signs the new contract, Lingard will stay at Old Trafford until 2021 and pocket nearly £21 million in wages. Lingard and MU began negotiating a deal last autumn. Manager Jose Mourinho wanted to renew Lingard's contract before the end of the 2016/17 season and now that has become a reality. After the contract extension, Lingard happily shared: "Manchester United is a part of my life".

“I have been at the club since I was 7 years old and feel proud every time I wear the shirt. Scoring in two finals for my childhood club are extremely proud moments for me and my family.”

Lingard continued: “Together we have won a major trophy this season. I hope MU will win many more under the leadership of this great coach (Mourinho). I would like to say a special thank you to MU fans for the support they have always given me and the team.”

Coach Mourinho added: "Jesse (Lingard) has been at the club since he was 7 years old. Jesse has intelligence, plus the skills to play football, which will make him a player with a bright future. I am delighted that Jesse has signed a new contract."

Lingard was part of the 2011 FA Youth Cup-winning United team that included Paul Pogba, Michael Keane, Ravel Morrison and Sam Johnstone. After loan spells at Leicester, Birmingham and Brighton, he made his United debut in August 2014. But a knee injury kept him out for six months.

Lingard's breakthrough came in the 2015/16 season, scoring six goals in 40 games for United, including the goal that won the FA Cup for the Red Devils. This season, the 24-year-old midfielder has scored five goals in 29 games in all competitions for United, including a crucial strike in the League Cup final.
