If he sees out the new deal, Lingard will stay at Old Trafford until 2021 and pocket nearly £21m in wages. Lingard and United began negotiating a deal last autumn. Manager Jose Mourinho wanted to renew Lingard before the end of the 2016/17 season and that has now become a reality. After the contract extension, Lingard happily shared: "Manchester United is part of my life."
“I have been at the club since I was seven years old and I feel proud every time I wear the shirt. Scoring in two finals for my childhood club are extremely proud moments for me and my family.”
Lingard continued: “Together we have won a major trophy this season. I hope United will win many more under the leadership of this great manager (Mourinho). I would like to say a special thank you to the United fans for the support they have always given me and the team.”

Lingard was the hero of MU in the 2015/16 FA Cup final. |
Mourinho added: “Jesse (Lingard) has been at the club since he was seven years old. Jesse has the intelligence, plus the football skills, which will make him a player with a bright future. I am delighted that Jesse has signed a new contract.”
Lingard was part of the United youth team that won the 2011 FA Youth Cup, a group that included Paul Pogba, Michael Keane, Ravel Morrison and Sam Johnstone. After loan spells at Leicester, Birmingham and Brighton, he made his United debut in August 2014. But a subsequent knee injury kept him out for six months.
Lingard's breakthrough came in the 2015/16 season, scoring six goals in 40 games for United, including the goal that won the FA Cup for the Red Devils. This season, the 24-year-old midfielder has scored five goals in 29 games in all competitions for United, including a crucial strike in the League Cup final.
