The coffin of former President Le Duc Anh arrives at Ho Chi Minh City Cemetery

• The state funeral of former President Le Duc Anh was held this morning in Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City and Thua Thien Hue, after which his coffin was brought to Ho Chi Minh City for burial at the city cemetery.

  At the gate of Military Region 7, security forces and soldiers stood in solemn rows, with the honor guard carrying their guns. When the procession carrying the coffin passed by, all the soldiers raised their hands in military salute.

  The General's coffin walked slowly on Hoang Van Thu Street, lingered for about 10 seconds when it reached the gate of Military Region 7, then continued moving on Nguyen Van Troi Street.

  Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc and Ho Chi Minh City leaders were present at the cemetery, preparing to receive the coffin of General Le Duc Anh.

  The rain stopped, the convoy from the airport VIP gate headed to Truong Son street, towards Military Region 7.

  The hearse took the General to Military Region 7.

  At Tan Son Nhat airport, forces including traffic police and military are on duty at intersections and gateways, preparing traffic control plans when the convoy carrying the General's coffin passes by.

  Despite the rain, security was still tightened in front of the private home of former President, General Le Duc Anh on Pasteur Street (District 3, Ho Chi Minh City).

  Military Region 7, Tan Binh District
  

  Heavy rain in Saigon. Security around Military Region 7 on Hoang Van Thu Street (Tan Binh District) is tightened. Nearby roads and roads leading to Tan Son Nhat Airport such as Phan Dinh Giot, Tran Quoc Hoan, Truong Son, Nguyen Van Troi, Hoang Van Thu... all have security forces.
  

  The convoy carrying the honor guard, hearse, and logistics team from inside Military Region 7 exited the gate, moving on Truong Son Street to Tan Son Nhat Airport to prepare to welcome the coffin of former President Le Duc Anh.

  The plane carrying the General's coffin arrived in Ho Chi Minh City at 3:00 p.m., then the hearse will pass through Military Region 7, where he was once the Commander and Political Commissar of the military region, pass by his private home at 240 Pasteur before arriving at the Ho Chi Minh City cemetery.
  

  The authorities will block the intersections when the group travels along the above route to ensure order and traffic safety. Vehicles are restricted from traveling along the route: Tan Son Nhat Airport - Truong Son - Tran Quoc Hoan - Hoang Van Thu - Nguyen Van Troi - Cong Ly Bridge - Nam Ky Khoi Nghia - Vo Thi Sau - Pasteur - Dien Bien Phu - Dien Bien Phu Bridge - Dien Bien Phu - Hang Xanh Crossroads Overpass - Dien Bien Phu - Saigon 1 Bridge - Hanoi Highway - Rach Chiec Bridge - Hanoi Highway - Thu Duc Crossroads Overpass - Hanoi Highway - Thu Duc Intersection Overpass - National Highway 1 - Road No. 12 - Ho Chi Minh City Cemetery.

  Preparations for the funeral of General Le Duc Anh have been completed. The former President's resting place is the area seen from the cemetery gate, next to his comrades, Senior Lieutenant General Tran Van Tra, Vo Chi Cong, and late Prime Minister Vo Van Kiet... Security here has also been tightened.

  Arriving very early with two bouquets of flowers in hand, Mrs. Tran Thi Duc (72 years old, living in Phu Nhuan district) said she was very sad when she heard the news of General Le Duc Anh's passing, she came here to see him off to his final resting place.

Former President, General Le Duc Anh passed away at 8:10 p.m. on April 22 at his home at 5A Hoang Dieu, Hanoi, at the age of 99.

He is one of the few people whose career is associated with many revolutionary periods, holding many important positions in the Resistance Wars against French colonialism, against American imperialism, and the war to protect the Southwestern border and the Northern border.

This morning, the funeral of former President, General Le Duc Anh took place at the National Funeral Home No. 5 Tran Thanh Tong (Hanoi), Thong Nhat Hall (HCMC) and the Hall of the People's Committee of Thua Thien Hue province.

After the funeral, the coffin of the late President Le Duc Anh was taken from the National Funeral Home, past the official residence where he used to live (5A Hoang Dieu), the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum, the Presidential Palace, then to Noi Bai Airport to Ho Chi Minh City. In Ho Chi Minh City, the coffin will pass through Military Region 7, where he used to be the Commander and Political Commissar of the Military Region, and pass his private residence at 240 Pasteur before arriving at the Ho Chi Minh City cemetery.

Mr. Le Manh Ha, son of General Le Duc Anh, said that the family's wish is to hold a simple one-day state funeral. The family also hopes that other social activities will continue as normal, without being disrupted.
