The rugged, strong, and versatile shape are the advantages of pickup trucks that make many people love them, but this line of vehicles also reveals many disadvantages.

It can be said that pickup trucks are currently favored by many Vietnamese consumers because of their design and equipment that are no different from multi-purpose specialized vehicles. However, besides the inherent advantages, pickup trucks also reveal many limitations that buyers need to know before choosing.

Large size causes difficulty in crowded places

The huge size of this pickup truck is a drawback that many people do not like, especially those who live in large urban areas. In case of crowded roads or traffic jams, turning around or parking is also quite difficult.

Besides many advantages, pickup trucks also have many disadvantages.

Operating costs increase

Because it is designed to carry goods, requiring the car to be as smooth as a family car is an excessive "perfectionism". To achieve smoothness, owners often load goods into the trunk with a weight of about 200kg, however, maintaining a regular amount of goods is the reason for a significant increase in operating costs.

Noisy engine, persistent anaemia smell

Because it has a diesel engine, it is quite okay, although nowadays car manufacturers have significantly improved the engine noise on their products, but it certainly cannot bring the smoothness like a gasoline engine.

Moreover, the lingering odor from diesel fuel when the car is parked indoors or “wandering” in the cabin is also something that makes many car owners uncomfortable. The physical properties of diesel fuel do not evaporate as quickly as gasoline, but often remain for quite a long time, making it quite difficult to fix.

The trunk is too high, making it inconvenient to get things.

For pickup trucks, the cabin space is limited, so most of the luggage must be put in the back box. To get things, the only way is to stop the vehicle. Moreover, the average height of pickup truck beds is quite high, the top edge of the bed is usually about 1.3 m high, making it quite difficult to load and unload luggage.

Moreover, the trunk door is flip-open, so to get things deep inside you will have to climb into the trunk, which is quite inconvenient.

The rear seats lack flexibility.

First of all, the rear seats lack flexibility and cannot be adjusted due to the rear partition with the trunk. On long journeys, this will cause fatigue because you cannot change to a more comfortable position. New versions of Ranger or Colorado have been improved by having more reclining rear seats.

Narrow cabin space

Also due to the limited space in the cabin, even with double cabin models, you will not be able to put as much luggage in the cabin as you would in a multi-purpose vehicle. Therefore, if you have to carry a lot of luggage and have bulky items, you will have to put them in the back. With a multi-purpose vehicle, you can just reach behind to get the items, while with a pickup truck, you can only stop and open the trunk.
