On July 13, Ninh Kieu District Police (Can Tho City) announced that the investigation agency had issued a decision to prosecute and temporarily detain Doan Phuoc Thang (31 years old, residing in Cai Khe) to investigate the act of "Raping a person under 16 years old".
According to the investigation agency, on July 7, N.'s family (12 years old) went to the ward People's Committee to register the birth of their daughter who was born about 3 months ago. The civil status officer discovered that the girl's mother was only 12 years old, so he informed the police.
N.’s family took their daughter to work. N. said that in 2017, she met Thang through social media. This young man often invited the girl to his motel to “do adult things”. Later, Thang worked as a hired hand in Hau Giang province, and N. followed him.
At the investigation agency, Thang confessed that he often did "adult things" with his girlfriend, leading to pregnancy and childbirth.
