(Baonghean.vn) - By congratulating Russian President Vladimir Putin on his re-election for a fifth term, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has shown that the West will not be able to influence relations between the two countries.

According to Ria Novosti news agency on March 21, journalist D. Marjanovic of Advance (Croatia) commented after Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi took to social network X to write a congratulatory message to President Vladimir Putin on his victory in the recent election.

"My warmest congratulations to Mr. Vladimir Putin on his re-election as President of the Russian Federation," Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi wrote on Twitter.

The Indian leader said he looked forward to further strengthening the bilateral relationship, which has stood the test of time.

“This statement can be considered one of the biggest failures of the West, which is trying to create a front of resistance against Russia, especially after the outbreak of the Ukraine conflict,” journalist D. Marjanovic commented.

According to Advance data, India has established friendly relations with Russia since the Soviet era, and continues to develop extensive cooperation with Moscow within the BRICS community.

Therefore, the Croatian observer said, New Delhi will never allow Washington to destroy the strong Russia-India relationship.

“The world has actively followed and implemented what President Vladimir Putin himself mentioned - multipolarity and non-interference in the internal affairs of other countries” - journalist D. Marjanovic said.

According to Marjanovic, India is today the most populous country in the world. However, India has done things that are not easy, even for the world's most powerful country like the United States.

Since the conflict in Ukraine broke out, despite Western discontent, India has been accused by its allies of playing into Russia's hands, by aggressively buying cheap Russian energy at deep discounts.

All this suggests that countries outside the political sphere of the West are less interested in democratic procedures for putting someone in power. What they care most about is whether this government can be seen as friendly, a partner, loyal to their interests, says journalist Marjanovic.
