Fire dozens of meters high, forest fire in Ky Son (Nghe An) has spread 10 km long

(Baonghean.vn) -As reported by Nghe An Newspaper, the forest fire broke out in Na Ngoi commune (Ky Son) on March 16 and up to now, rescue forces have not been able to control the fire.

As of this morning (March 20), the fire has spread more than 10 km from the initial fire point. Hot weather, strong winds combined with vegetation and trees dying after the cold spell in January caused the fire to flare up extremely fiercely.

The situation is very complicated. There are 3 fire areas 800 to 1,000 meters apart, the fire continues to spread from the Northwest to the Southeast, hundreds of hectares of forest have been burned. It is worrying that the terrain of the Ky Son mountainous area is steep and dangerous, making it very difficult to access to fight the fire.

A fire in a steep, inaccessible mountain area

By the morning of March 20, although more than 600 people had been mobilized to put out the fire and clear dozens of kilometers of fire-prevention belt, the fire had repeatedly crossed the belt, making it difficult for authorities to contain it. One person was injured during the firefighting process.

The fire has now split into three branches going from Northwest to Southeast, nearly 10 km from the center of Na Ngoi Commune People's Committee.

New human resources were mobilized by the People's Committee of Ky Son district, moving to the fire sites to put out the fire.

At the scene, under the direction of Mr. Nguyen Thanh Hoang - Chairman of Ky Son District People's Committee, all local forces are making efforts andby all available means to focus on extinguishing the fire. It is known that today Ky Son district continues to add manpower to find ways to control and extinguish the forest fire. The district People's Committee also decided to support 200 thousand VND/person/day to participate in forest fire fighting.
