Winter-Spring rice supply is exhausted, price increases by 100 - 300 VND/kg; Domestic steel price drops sharply again

* Domestic steel prices drop sharply again to 720,000 VND/ton

Today, April 14, domestic steel prices dropped sharply to 720,000 VND/ton. Previously, steel prices had dropped 310,000 VND/ton on April 8.

Today's steel price for October 2023 delivery on the Shanghai Stock Exchange fell 33 yuan to 3,881 yuan/ton.

The most traded steel futures price for May 2023 delivery fell 33 yuan to 3,939 yuan/ton.

Today, domestic steel prices dropped to 720,000 VND/ton.

According to SteelOnline.vn, Hoa Phat steel brand adjusted the selling price of CB240 rolled steel by 460 VND, currently at 15,200 VND/kg; D10 CB300 ribbed steel decreased by 310 VND, priced at 15,580 VND/kg.

Accordingly, Hoa Phat Steel in the Northern region reduced the price of CB240 rolled steel by VND460,000/ton to VND15.2 million/ton, equivalent to a decrease of 3%. D10 CB300 rebar is VND15.58 million/ton, a decrease of VND310,000/ton, equivalent to 2%.

Meanwhile, Pomina reduced 640,000 VND/ton for CB240 to 16.93 million VND/ton and rebar reduced 720,000 VND/ton to 16.88 million VND/ton, equivalent to a decrease of 3.6-4% respectively.

Viet Y announced a smaller price reduction than the two brands above. Viet Y's CB240 is 15.3 million VND/ton, down 300,000 VND/ton, equivalent to 2%. D10 CB300 rebar is down 150,000 VND/ton to 15.4 million VND/ton.

* The world continues to skyrocket, SJC gold is currently at 67.1 million VND

Gold price today April 14, domestic gold price increased slightly again, with JSC gold price currently at 67.10 million VND/tael (selling).

At the time of survey at 5:00 a.m. on April 14, on the trading floor of Saigon Jewelry Company SJC, SJC gold was 66.50 million VND/tael for buying and 67.10 million VND/tael for selling.

Domestic gold prices are still higher than world prices.

At Phu Quy Jewelry Company, at the time of survey, the listed price of SJC gold was at 66.50 - 67.10 million VND/tael (buy - sell).

DOJI listed the price of 9999 gold at 66.50 million VND/tael for buying and 67.05 million VND/tael for selling.

Vietinbank Gold price is listed at 66.50 million VND/tael for buying and 67.12 million VND/tael for selling.

The price of SJC gold at Bao Tin Minh Chau Company Limited is also traded by the enterprise at 66.52 - 67.08 million VND/tael (buy - sell). The price of 24K Rong Thang Long gold of Bao Tin Minh Chau is listed at 55.72 - 56.72 million VND/tael.

According to Kitco, the world gold price recorded at 5:00 a.m. today, Vietnam time, was at 2,040.285 USD/ounce. Converted according to the current exchange rate at Vietcombank, the world gold price is about 57.80 million VND/tael (excluding taxes and fees). Thus, the price of SJC gold bars is still 9.3 million VND/tael higher than the international gold price. Meanwhile, the US gold futures price increased by 1.5%, reaching 2,055.30 USD.

* Winter-Spring rice supply is exhausted, price increases by 100 - 300 VND/kg

Rice prices today, April 14, in the Mekong Delta have increased by 100 - 300 VND/kg for some rice varieties. Currently, the demand for Summer-Autumn rice is gradually increasing.

Accordingly, at An Giang warehouse, Dai Thom 8 rice is currently being purchased by traders at the field at 6,600 - 6,800 VND/kg, an increase of 100 VND/kg; OM 18 rice is at 6,600 - 6,800 VND/kg, an increase of 300 VND/kg compared to Dai Thom 8 rice. Accordingly, in An Giang, Dai Thom 8 rice is being purchased by traders at 6,500 - 6,700 VND/kg.

For the remaining rice varieties, prices remained stable. Specifically, Nang Hoa 9 was at 6,400 - 6,600 VND/kg; OM 5451 remained at 6,400 - 6,500 VND/kg; IR 504 was at 6,200 - 6,300 VND/kg; Long An fresh sticky rice was at 6,600 - 6,800 VND/kg; An Giang fresh sticky rice was at 6,200 - 6,300 VND/kg; Long An dry sticky rice was 9,000 - 9,200 VND/kg, An Giang dry sticky rice fluctuated at 8,400 - 8,600 VND/kg and IR 504 dry rice remained at 6,500 VND/kg.

Regarding rice, the price of raw rice and finished rice products remained stable today. Accordingly, the price of raw rice was stable at 9,300 VND/kg, the price of finished rice products fluctuated around 10,400 - 10,450 VND/kg.

For by-products, the price of IR 504 sheet fluctuates around 9,100 VND/kg; dry bran remains at 7,200 VND/kg.

At the retail market, rice prices remained stable after the adjustment session. Accordingly, regular rice is 11,000 - 12,000 VND/kg; Jasmine fragrant rice is 14,000 - 15,000 VND/kg; Soc regular rice is 15,000 VND/kg; glutinous rice is 16,000 - 18,000 VND/kg; Nang Nhen rice is 22,000 VND/kg; Common white rice is 14,500 VND/kg; Nang Hoa is 18,500 VND/kg; Soc Thai is 18,000 VND/kg; Taiwanese fragrant rice is 20,000 VND/kg; Japanese rice is 22,000 VND/kg; Bran is 7,500 - 8,000 VND/kg; Long grain Thai fragrant rice remains at 18,000 - 19,000 VND/kg and Jasmine rice at 19,000 VND/kg.

According to traders, today raw rice is in short supply, rice prices tend to increase again. Fresh rice prices are stable, glutinous rice prices are down, early summer-autumn rice prices are high. Particularly, Japonica rice continues to be in high demand, but supply is limited. In the Mekong Delta provinces, winter-spring rice is still in production in many localities.

On the world market, the export price of Vietnamese rice today has stabilized and remained unchanged after an upward adjustment session. Accordingly, 5% broken rice is at 473 USD/ton; 25% broken rice is at 453 USD/ton.

* 70 growing areas and 13 sweet potato packaging facilities are allowed to export to China.

The Plant Protection Department has just received a diplomatic note announcing the results of an online inspection of Vietnamese sweet potato enterprises exporting to China from the General Department of Customs (GACC) of this country.

Accordingly, except for 3 enterprises inspected during the risk analysis process, Chinese experts conducted online inspections of 20 packaging facilities on Vietnam's proposed list.

Through online inspection and technical exchanges, Chinese experts confirmed that 13 out of 23 packing facilities meet the requirements of the Protocol on Quarantine Requirements for Sweet Potato Products.

The price that traders buy Japanese sweet potato seeds at the field is quite high, from 8,000-15,000 VND/kg.

The remaining 10 packaging facilities still have some problems that need to be overcome, such as: substandard management systems, incomplete equipment, poor technical specifications, or facilities that do not fully meet the requirements of the protocol.

Along with these 13 packing facilities, the list of 70 sweet potato growing areas eligible for export to China has been fully posted on the website of the Animal and Plant Quarantine Bureau, General Administration of Customs of China.

In the coming time, China is willing to strengthen cooperation with Vietnam to further promote the development of sweet potato trade in particular and agricultural products in general between the two countries.

The Plant Protection Department commits to continue to coordinate and support local professional agencies in the work of propaganda, dissemination, guidance and implementation for businesses, cooperatives and people. The goal is to improve quality, ensure food hygiene and safety as well as further open the market for sweet potato products.
