According to RIA Novosti, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) announced early on July 31 that senior Hezbollah commander Fuad Shokr was killed in an Israeli airstrike in southern Beirut, Lebanon.

A Lebanese security source earlier told Sky News Arabia that Hezbollah commander Fuad Shokr was killed in an Israeli strike.

“The IDF announced that, in a targeted attack based on intelligence, Israeli warplanes killed the top commander and head of Hezbollah’s strategic unit, Fuad Shokr, in the Beirut area,” the Israeli military said.

According to the Israeli military, Commander Shokr is the “right-hand man” of the organization's Secretary General Hassan Nasrullah, and is an advisor on planning and managing military operations.

The Israeli military added that Fuad Shokr joined Hezbollah in 1985 and held various leadership positions over the years, organizing and carrying out attacks against Israeli forces as early as the 1990s. "As head of Hezbollah's strategic department, Fuad was responsible for much of Hezbollah's most advanced weaponry, including precision-guided missiles, cruise missiles, anti-ship missiles, long-range missiles, and drones. Fuad was responsible for force building, planning, and executing terrorist attacks against the State of Israel," the Israeli statement said.

As for Hezbollah, this force has yet to confirm the death of commander Shokr.

Previously, on July 30, the IDF attacked the capital Beirut, targeting "the commander responsible for the killing of Israeli children and civilians in Majdal Shams".

The Lebanese state news agency NNA reported that the attack was carried out by a drone. According to the latest data, 3 people were killed and 74 others were injured.

On the evening of July 27, the city of Majdal Shams in the Golan Heights was attacked by rockets. 12 people were killed - children and teenagers. Israel accused the attack of being carried out by the Shiite movement Hezbollah in Lebanon. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said that the country would respond to this attack. In addition, Israeli officials made statements about the beginning of a full-scale war with Lebanon.

Meanwhile, Hezbollah denied any involvement in the attack.
