Reasons for neck pain after waking up

Some people after waking up and having breakfast suddenly feel pain in the back of the neck, turning to the right, to the left or looking up all hurt.

This could be a sign that you have cervical spondylosis. This condition is common in office workers who have to sit a lot, work continuously, and have little movement.

Shoulder and neck pain has many different levels. Mild levels cause little pain that is only temporary. More severe levels cause pain that lasts for days or weeks.

Mild neck and shoulder pain will go away on its own without treatment. Severe pain must be treated by changing behavior and lifestyle. You should reduce the time you spend sitting at work for long periods of time. Every 30 minutes, you should change your posture, stretch, and do some exercises to relieve tension in your tendons and ligaments.

Avoid sitting in the car too much. Long-distance travel puts pressure on the spine, tendons, and ligaments, so you should rest more to relax the tendons and ligaments. When lying down, lie on a flat surface, not on a curved surface such as a hammock, a deck chair, or a mattress that is too soft or too sunken will also cause pain.

You should sleep on a firm mattress or no mattress at all. The pillow should be of moderate height, about 8 to 10 cm. A pillow that is too high or no pillow at all will also put great strain on the ligaments of the cervical spine and cause more pain.
