When asked about VAR - the technology first applied at the Asian Cup starting from the Vietnam vs Japan match, midfielder Phan Van Duc answered AFC: "I think this is a good debut of VAR technology in this year's tournament. It brings fairness to both sides. The referee was right to award a penalty to Japan, after checking with VAR."

"We tried our best today, but it was still not enough to go further in the tournament. I would like to apologize to all Vietnamese fans and thank them for cheering for the team throughout the tournament.
