Manchester United and 5 big problems: Solsa's headache
(Baonghean.vn) - Ole Gunnar Solskajaer has been signed by Manchester United's Board of Directors as a 3-year official coach, meaning his responsibilities to the team are completely different from when he took over as interim manager from Mourinho in December 2018 to maintain stability in the club's dressing room.
It wasn’t until the home defeat to Barcelona in the UEFA Champions League quarter-finals that the problems were apparent. Prior to that, defeats to Arsenal and Wolverhampton (losing 2-1 in both consecutive matches) in the FA Cup and Premier League ended United’s winning streak.
Statistics of the last 5 matches, Manchester United lost 4. That is an extremely disappointing number for Solsa personally and those who love the team. The "weak points" are gradually exposed and thoroughly exploited, however, solving these problems will not be a simple problem for Solskajaer and his colleagues.
1.Center back
Manchester history has recorded that under Alex Ferguson's reign, each successful cycle was associated with famous central defenders, from Steve Bruce or Gary Pallister who laid the first foundation for the Ferguson era in the Premier League, or Jaap Stam at the peak of the team in 1999, and it is impossible not to mention the duo Rio Firdinand and Nemanja Vidic, the central defender pair who created a brand throughout the first decade of the 21st century.

These central defenders make any striker afraid because of their extremely solid, intelligent and passionate playing style. Playing alongside them, Wes Brown, John Oshea, David May, Henning Berg or Ronny Johnsen... average central defenders also surpass and become extremely excellent.
Currently, Manchester United do not have any players who are at the same level as their predecessors. Apart from Linderlof, who plays consistently and well, the rest, Eric Bailly, Smalling, Phil Jones, and Rojo, have not shown much. These defenders play inconsistently and often make very fatal mistakes. More importantly, none of these central defenders have the leadership qualities to be able to command the defense, like Steve Bruce, Firdinand or Vidic did.
2.Ashley Young
It must be said that Young is the type of player that is very popular with coaches because of his attitude and hard work, especially Young can play many positions, but that alone is not enough. Manchester United need a new Garry Neville on the right wing, someone who is solid in defense, effective in attack and most of all dedicated.
Surely football lovers still remember the golden generation of 1992 of Man Utd, besides David Beckham, no one could bring the ball into the penalty area from the right wing as excellently and effectively as Neville. Diogo Dalot is a young defender with great potential and was brought in for the future. Manchester people hope that in the next few seasons Dalot can mature to take charge of the right wing, not like Young is doing, dancing around and wasting too many balls.
3.Paul Pogba

There are too many issues to solve with Pogba, a player with a lot of talent but an unstable mentality. Pogba has a strong personality and he knows he has talent, that is the problem. Can Solsa guide Paul’s ego into the flow of the team or will he get tired of this wild horse’s “crazy”? If he can’t control Paul, the best way is to sell.
4.attack
Manchester United have a very young and fast attack line like Martial, Lukaku, Rashford... they are all good players in their generation but all have problems with form. But when they are in form, they all play very well and are very difficult to stop, but when they pass that threshold, these strikers become extremely mediocre. In the match against Barcelona, Manchester United had 10 shots and none of them were on target. Really disappointing.
A big team that wants to compete for titles in the season must have players who can score over 30 goals/season, like Sergio Aguero of Man City, Robert Lewandowski of Munich, Ronaldo of Juventus, Messi of Barcelona or Krzysztof Piatek of AC Milan. Players who are in stable form throughout the season and can score at any time without having to worry about "inspiration".

5.Leader
Manchester United currently lacks someone who can protect his teammates on the pitch, lift their spirits and inspire the whole team. Someone whose presence alone can reassure the other players and make them ready to fight with all their might, like the legendary captains Steve Bruce, Cantona, Roy Kane, Garry Neville, Vidic, or at least Rooney did. A true “Devil Leader”.
Solve these five problems and Manchester United will be a truly fearsome team again. But as mentioned, it is not easy.
A not-so-pleasant headache for Solsa!
