Previously, at around 11pm on August 3, the Export Luggage Procedures Team of the Noi Bai International Airport Customs Branch, through screening the carry-on luggage of this passenger, departing on flight JL752 (HANOI-NARITA), discovered a number of metal products.
Authorities conducted an inspection and discovered that in addition to the appropriate luggage for the flight, this Japanese passenger also carried 7 silver metal statues with a total weight of about 5 kg and did not declare the metal to customs.
At this time, the Japanese passenger declared that the above statues were made of gold worth 16,500,000 JPY, equivalent to 3.2 billion VND. Immediately after that, the Noi Bai International Airport Customs Branch sealed the above evidence and conducted procedures to take samples to appraise the metal suspected to be gold.
