Masan Group continues to be honored in the Top 50 Sustainable Development Enterprises in 2024
At the announcement ceremony of the Top 50 Outstanding Sustainable Development Enterprises of Vietnam 2024 on the afternoon of August 2, Masan was continuously named in many award categories because of the comprehensive implementation of sustainable development strategy at this multi-industry corporation.

Accordingly, Masan was honored as the leading unit in the Listed Enterprise Sector, achieving all 3 typical categories corresponding to 3 ESG pillars: E-Sustainable Resource Management; S-Human resource strategy for sustainable development; G-Excellent corporate governance. This group is steadfast in its goal of leading on the basis of sustainable business, innovation, pursuing the ideal of becoming the pride of Vietnam with the trust of consumers.
Strategic vision on ESG
The concept of ESG has now gained widespread attention in Vietnam thanks to the Government’s efforts to promote ESG-related practices. Responding to and accompanying national commitments on ESG goals, as one of the leading enterprises in Vietnam, Masan has been consistently integrating ESG into its business strategy and action programs.
By implementing the pillars of the ESG Framework, Masan commits to being a responsible business, creating value for customers and all stakeholders across the value chain by driving innovation for sustainable growth, caring for the environment and community, and being worthy of the trust of customers and employees.
These values are fully aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (“UN SDGs”) and reflect compliance with the International Finance Corporation (“IFC”)’s stringent Environmental and Social Performance Standards.

From commitment to action, Masan quickly implemented the ESG strategy, establishing an ESG Committee to ensure sustainable development activities are consistent with Masan's sustainable development policies and strategies.
The ESG Committee structure, which is part of the group’s governance structure, will help unify the group’s strategic direction and objectives on sustainability issues across Masan’s subsidiaries. In addition, centralized sustainability governance will enhance oversight and coordination of Masan’s sustainability risk management, progress, and sustainability performance across the board.

From commitment to practice
As a business with the ability to deeply influence and guide consumption of more than 100 million Vietnamese people, Masan's sustainable development initiatives focus on bringing value to the economy and social life. Currently, this business owns the largest retail chain in the country with more than 3,600 supermarkets and WinMart/WinMart+/WiN stores, along with a system of factories producing essential goods such as food, beverages, chilled meat and branded processed meat, F&B chains spanning across Vietnam...

Committed to being "green" to the environment, Masan has invested extensively in advanced wastewater treatment systems, applying strict standards to monitor the impact of production activities on the surrounding environment. Typically, Masan Consumer has invested in building modern wastewater treatment systems designed by Dutch partners at factories in Binh Duong, Hai Duong and Nghe An. Masan MEATLife's high-tech pig farm in Nghe An has also invested in a modern wastewater treatment system. At the MEATDeli meat processing complex in Ha Nam and Long An, domestic wastewater and wastewater from the production process are collected and treated into type A wastewater.

In an effort to achieve its decarbonization goal by 2030, Masan is focusing on using renewable fuels to power its operations. Currently, more than 50% of Masan and its subsidiaries’ total energy consumption is from renewable sources such as biomass and biofuels.
In 2023, Masan MEATLife successfully converted 1 out of 4 manufacturing plants to operate entirely on biomass energy from rice husk and sawdust waste. Masan Consumer has successfully turned biomass energy into a major energy source for its business operations, with an average utilization rate of 87% at different facilities.

Masan High-Tech Materials - a member company of Masan, is recognized as the largest energy user in the ecosystem, but is also a leader in energy saving programs with many important initiatives implemented. Accordingly, Masan High-Tech Materials has achieved ISO 50001:2018 Energy Management System Certification since 2022.
Along with environmental protection activities, Masan always focuses on implementing social responsibility, the company has contributed more than 4,421 billion VND in taxes to the State budget in 2023. In addition to becoming one of the enterprises paying the most taxes in the provinces where factories and production facilities operate, Masan also contributes to creating jobs and improving the lives of local people.
