Premises for Tet flower and ornamental plant business in Nghe An increase in price, difficult to rent
With just over a month left until the Lunar New Year, flower and ornamental plant traders and garden owners are scrambling to find a place to rent to sell their products for Tet. They accept high prices and pay deposits months in advance, but it is not easy to find a suitable location…

Since the end of the 11th lunar month, the market for renting premises to sell ornamental plants such as peach, kumquat, apricot, fresh flowers... to serve the occasion of the Lunar New Year At Ty 2025 has begun to bustle.
The characteristic of this product is that it requires a large area during use to display ornamental plants, and it must be located in a busy place to easily attract customers and facilitate transportation. Therefore, many garden owners and traders have to have a headache finding a suitable location at a reasonable price.

Mr. Tran Xuan Linh, a mai and grapefruit trader from Binh Dinh who came to Vinh City to rent a space for 2 days now, said: “For more than 10 years now, I have brought mai from Binh Dinh here to sell for Tet. Every year, I ask an acquaintance to find a space first and deposit money, and around the 15th of the 12th lunar month, I bring the goods out to sell. This year, to find a suitable space, I went out first to rent it myself. However, after 2 days of searching and contacting, I still haven't "finalized" a suitable location."
Last year, also because he was “slow”, Mr. Do Xuan Minh (Nghi Phu, Vinh City) could only rent a narrow plot of land on Le Hong Phong Street to set up a stall to sell orchids. Cramped, with no space to display and preserve goods, as well as shelter from the rain and sun, business during the 1 month of Tet was very difficult.

Learning from experience, this year, from the end of November, Mr. Minh has started looking for premises and has "targeted" 2 suitable locations. Mr. Minh said: "The closer to Tet, the harder it is to find premises and also harder to find a suitable location. Learning from experience from last year, I have to proactively find premises and pay a deposit in advance to reserve a place. Compared to previous years, this year the price of premises is higher and also more scarce."
At this time, many premises on Le Nin Street in Hung Dung Ward (Vinh City) have been rented out by traders and garden owners. Many businesses have gathered early and displayed Tet flowers. Mr. Nguyen Viet Hien (a flower and ornamental plant business in Nghi An, Vinh City) said: "The premises at this location are considered "prime because the road is wide, there is comfortable parking space and it is crowded, so there are many tenants. I had to pay a deposit since April to reserve a spot".

According to Mr. Hien, the area of the premises he rented is nearly 500 square meters.2cost nearly 100 million VND. This year, Mr. Hien expanded his business so he rented another piece of land, one shack away from this location. Just counting the rental fee, Mr. Hien had to spend nearly 200 million VND for more than 1 month of selling Tet goods.
To have a nice space, Mr. Nguyen Cong Duong (residing in Nghi An commune, Vinh city) had to accept paying rent for half a year, while in reality he only used it for more than a month. Because of the nature of selling orchids and lilies - two high-class flowers, preservation must be very careful. In addition, this is the place where he and many others live and do business during the Tet flower season. Therefore, the space must be large enough, convenient for setting up a camp and covering it with tarpaulin.

According to a general survey, this year, the supply of rental space for Tet flower and ornamental plant businesses is somewhat more limited than previous years, and rental prices have also increased slightly.
Mr. Nguyen Tuan, who owns 3 premises for rent to sell flowers and ornamental plants for Tet on Le Nin Street (Vinh City), said: "Each space like this has an area of 400m2.2, 10m frontage and 40m depth, rental price is 70 million VND/m from now until the end of the first full moon of the first lunar month. In general, this year, beautiful premises are scarcer because many vacant land areas in beautiful locations have been built; many warehouse and yard locations also have permanent tenants for the whole year".
Compared to the market, the rental price of flower and ornamental plant business premises ranges from 200,000 - 500,000 VND/m2.2, even up to 1 million VND/m2depending on the location. Therefore, the cost for business owners to rent premises is very high. However, for garden owners and traders of ornamental plants and flowers, they only look forward to Tet to do business all year round, so they have to accept it.

This year, the economy is difficult, many small traders are worried that purchasing power will decrease, "income will not be enough to cover expenses" because in addition to the cost of renting a location, they also have to calculate additional costs for labor, gasoline, transportation, etc.
