Conflict while "flirting", 12th grade male student commits serious crime

The Investigation Police Agency of Hai Duong Province will continue to consolidate records, investigate and clarify the public disorder acts of related subjects, and handle them according to the provisions of law.

At 10:00 p.m. on February 19, the Criminal Police Department of Hai Duong Province Police received a report from Hai Duong City Police about a serious crime that occurred at 8:40 p.m. on February 19 at Independence Square (general intersection) in Quang Trung Ward, Hai Duong City. The victim was Mr. Luu Trung Kien (born in 1999, residing at 21/63 Mac Thi Buoi, Tran Phu Ward, Hai Duong City, Hai Duong Province) who was beaten to death by a group of young men.

After receiving the information, the Criminal Police Department of Hai Duong Provincial Police presided over and coordinated with the Criminal Technique Department and the Provincial People's Procuracy to conduct a crime scene investigation, autopsy and investigation measures.

Initial results determined: Le Thanh Long is a 12th grade student at a local high school. Previously, Long had flirted with Kien's girlfriend. Because of this, a conflict arose between the two sides. After cursing each other on Facebook, Luu Trung Kien and Le Thanh Long challenged each other to a fight and made an appointment on the evening of February 19 to go to the Hai Duong City Intersection Stadium to resolve the conflict.

At around 8:00 p.m. on February 19, Long invited Nghiem Trong Tung (born 2002, residing at 153 Nguyen Thuong Man, Binh Han ward); Luong Huu Trung (born 2002, residing at 9/416, Hoang Hoa Tham street, Nguyen Trai ward) and about 10 other people to the general yard to meet Kien.

In Kien's group of friends at this time, there were Dao Viet Son (born in 1999, residing in Cay village, Long Xuyen commune, Binh Giang district); Pham Van Hoang (born in 1999, residing in Thanh Lieu, Tan Hung ward, Hai Duong city) and Vuong Thanh Dat (born in 2000, residing in Khue Lieu, Tan Hung, Hai Duong city).

There, Long told Kien to go to the table to drink water to talk and the two sides continued to argue. In the heat of the moment, Long punched Kien, and Kien also hit Long. The two groups also attacked each other with their hands, feet, chairs, and plastic tables.

At that moment, Long used the knife he was carrying to stab Kien in the back, two times grazing his back and the last time hitting his right rib, penetrating his liver. Kien was taken to the Military Hospital 7 for emergency treatment until around 10pm when he died.

After committing the crime, Long and the group fled the scene, throwing the murder weapon into the river near the bridge in Hai Tan ward, Hai Duong city.

After receiving the report, the Criminal Police Department of Hai Duong Provincial Police coordinated with Hai Duong City Police to conduct a crime scene investigation, autopsy; review witnesses and security cameras around the scene to detect images of the perpetrators, and at the same time apply professional measures to establish the names and addresses of a number of related subjects.

The screening process identified Le Thanh Long as the perpetrator. The Criminal Police Department of Hai Duong Provincial Police in coordination with Hai Duong City Police mobilized the families of the subjects to surrender to enjoy the leniency of the law.

At around 11:30 p.m. on February 19, Le Thanh Long turned himself in to the Hai Duong City Police Department and confessed to his crime. So far, the Investigation Agency has summoned 10 other subjects for questioning. Through initial questioning, the subjects have confessed to their and their accomplices' violations.
