Mexico: 523 politicians and government officials assassinated during elections
Among them were two politicians from the National Reconstruction Movement party founded by newly elected leftist President Andrés Manuel López Obrador, who were assassinated on July 20.

According to the Excelsior news website, Mr. Eliseo Delgado Sanchez, the newly elected Mayor of Buenavista city, Michoacan state, was shot dead on the steps of the city hall.
Earlier in the day, gunmen opened fire on the car of Zenon Cocula Fierro, a city councilor in Tlaquepaque, Jalisco state.
Authorities in the North American country last week counted a total of 523 politicians and government officials who were assassinated during the recent election campaign.
On July 1 alone, election day, there were 138 attacks and 7 murders of politicians in 26 states of Mexico./.
