Nghe An mountainous region suffers tens of billions of dong in damage due to floods
(Baonghean.vn) - In recent days, heavy rain has caused severe damage in mountainous districts of Nghe An.
Initial preliminary reports from mountainous districts of Nghe An estimated the total damage after recent days of heavy rain and floods to be up to tens of billions of dong. Que Phong is considered the district that suffered the most damage from the recent prolonged heavy rains.
In this mountainous district, many road sections were blocked by landslides: Landslide on National Highway 48D in Pao village, Quang Phong commune, 10m long; landslide on National Highway 16 connecting Dong Van commune to Hua Na hydroelectric plant, 15m long; landslide on Chau Kim commune road to Nam Giai commune, 10m long; landslide on Hanh Dich road to Hua Muong village, 14m long; Chau Thon road to Cam Muon was eroded underground, 15m long... Not to mention, many areas of crops and irrigation works have not yet been counted for damage due to the rising river water being flooded. The total initial estimated damage is about 7.2 billion VND.

In Quy Chau district, 1 house was damaged by landslide, 42 houses were flooded, 8 houses were at risk of landslide. 38 hectares of rice, 12 hectares of crops and 5 hectares of trees were flooded. 2 cages, 11 hectares of fish pond water surface were damaged. 5 buffaloes were swept away by water. 27 traffic points were flooded, 1 bridge was damaged. It is estimated that the total damage in this poor mountainous district is up to 1 billion 374 million VND.
In Anh Son district, heavy rain flooded 298 hectares of corn and crops, 176 hectares of sugarcane. 500 poultry died; 265 hectares of aquaculture ponds were flooded; 391 meters of rural roads were damaged; 140 houses were flooded. In particular, due to prolonged heavy rain, many villages, hamlets and villages were isolated; of which 2 localities were almost completely isolated, namely Binh Son and Tho Son communes, where vehicles could not travel. It is estimated that the whole Anh Son district suffered more than 2 billion VND in damage.

Tuong Duong was also greatly affected by the recent floods. 68 houses collapsed, had landslides, had their roofs blown off and were flooded. 8.31 hectares of rice fields and upland rice fields were flooded and swept away. More than 12 hectares of crops were damaged. Many areas of forestry, livestock, poultry, seafood and traffic works were affected. Preliminary estimates put the damage in this mountainous district at nearly 1 billion VND.
In addition, Con Cuong, Ky Son, Quy Hop, Thanh Chuong, Tan Ky districts... were also heavily affected by the recent rains.
Currently, the rain has stopped in mountainous communes and districts. The work of overcoming the consequences of storms and floods in these districts is taking place urgently and quickly with the participation of all levels and sectors in the area./.
