Minh Tu wears national costume 'Dragon's Descendants' to Miss Supranational
TPO - Minh Tu and her crew introduced the image of the "Royal Ao Dai" named "Con Rong Chau Tien" - one of two national costumes that Minh Tu brought to the Miss Supranational 2018 contest taking place in Poland.
Miss Supranationalis a contest that promotes harmony, friendliness and openness, therefore, choosing Ao Dai as the idea is to express the traditional cultural message and is a symbolic image of Vietnam, which is also a symbolic image of Vietnam in the period of international integration.
This ao dai set consists of two parts, a high-necked ao dai - a traditional-shaped turban inside and a meticulously and luxuriously made outer cloak. The inner ao dai is made of silk, lightly studded with ancient gemstones (Agate and Opal) that are not too sparkling but very valuable and delicate.
Even more impressive is the traditional "Royal Robe" worn on the outside. It is known that the designer was very bold when deciding to incorporate into this design the art of lacquer painting - a pinnacle of traditional handicrafts and the pride of Vietnamese fine arts. The material of the "Royal Robe" is sewn on luxurious taffeta fabric. According to designer Dinh Van Tho, lacquer painting has been and is being considered a treasure by world art collectors. This is the first time that lacquer painting technique has been painted and inlaid on taffeta fabric by designer Dinh Van Tho.
The prominent motif in this “Royal Robe” set is the image of “Dragon and Phoenix” flying above the clouds, depicting an image that is both noble and harmonious. The lower part is the image of layers and layers of people living in prosperity, symbolizing “descendants of the dragon and fairy”, expressing the prosperity and solidarity of ethnic groups in the life of Vietnam through the delicate lacquer painting.
Although she rarely has the opportunity to wear Ao Dai, but in her only and last "battle" in the international beauty arena, Minh Tu could not hide her pride and emotion at becoming an ambassador bringing the message of a prosperous Vietnam to the world.
She said: “Minh Tu felt very touched and proud, the ao dai is the national costume of Vietnam, so Minh Tu wants to preserve that traditional value and help Minh Tu be more confident when performing on stage. Once again, Minh Tu would like to thank designer Dinh Van Tho for devoting so much effort to this work, Minh Tu will try her best to fully express the thoughts that designer Dinh Van Tho has put into it.".
