Mitsubishi Triton adds new engine priced at 785 million in Vietnam

On November 15, the upgraded version using the new MIVEC 2.4 engine on the highest-end version was launched in the Vietnamese market with a price 10 million VND higher than the old version.

Triton with new engine for better power and fuel efficiency can be seen as a boost for the year-end shopping season, when Mitsubishi's sales in the pickup segment have not been very positive in recent times.

The new MIVEC 2.4 engine is only applied on the high-end 4x4 AT version.

The new MIVEC 2.4 engine replacing the 2.5 VGT is a notable point in the upgrade. Electronic variable valve control technology applied on the diesel turbocharger platform for power181 horsepower at 3,500 rpm and maximum torque of 430 Nm at 2,500 rpm. These parameters are 3 horsepower and 30 Nm better than the old engine version.

The new engine is still combined with5-speed automatic transmission with Sport Mode. 2-wheel drive and 4 different transmission modes: 2H-4H-4HLc-4LLc. Additional center differential lock supports off-road capability when traveling on highways.

The design is not as trendy as its competitors, especially the Ford Ranger. But the Triton is not out of the pickup-sedan trend, applying many technologies and features that make it a pickup truck but also suitable for city driving.

The exterior has not changed much.

However, the Triton's safety equipment has not made a breakthrough. The upgrade with the new engine somewhat fills that gap. The car has added electronic stability control, hill start assist, and traction control. But the dual airbags remain unchanged from the previous version.

Not many changes in exterior design. The style is not too refined but rugged, a bit "challenging" making Mitsubishi Triton one of the modelsRetains the pure pickup quality in terms of aesthetics. J-line style with embossed lines on the body, masculine black chrome grille.

The interior retains the same function layout as the old version. The steering wheel is redesigned with four spokes, integrated with paddle shifters on the steering wheel. The price is 785 million for the high-end 4x4 AT version using the new engine. The remaining versions still retain the same selling price, the cheapest is 4x2 MT at 595 million VND.
