The Principality team is waiting for a higher offer from Tianjin Quanjian, the club that is very interested in buying the 30-year-old Colombian striker.

"Monaco have rejected a $54 million offer for Radamel Falcao from Tianjin Quanjian, who had earlier offered Chelsea's Diego Costa a lucrative deal," Sky Sports reported on January 16.

But according to L'Equipe (France), the Colombian striker could still leave Ligue 1 in this January transfer window, if Monaco receives a better offer.

Monaco refused to sell Falcao for $54 million.

Monaco vice-president Vadim Vasilyev admits it is difficult for the club to resist the temptation of multi-million dollar deals. But Tianjin may need to increase their asking price by around 30 percent to have any hope of securing Falcao's transfer.

“I have to think as a club leader. Obviously I want to win titles, but there are also special cases. There are few clubs in the world that can refuse every transfer offer,” Vasilyev told Canal+.

Previously, Falcao had rejected two attractive offers to move to play in the Chinese Super League because he wanted to stay in the Premier League to fight for a position at Chelsea in the 2015-16 season.

Falcao struggled on loan at Manchester United and Chelsea but has found his form since returning to Monaco, scoring 14 goals in 18 appearances this season.

Tianjin Quanjian, the club currently managed by coach Fabio Cannavaro, are also believed to be willing to pay striker Costa a weekly salary of more than £500,000 if he agrees to leave Chelsea.
