(Baonghean.vn) - On the night of September 28, in Tien Ky commune, Tan Ky district People's Committee solemnly held the opening ceremony of Buon Xao Festival 2018.

Buon Xao Festival is associated with the relics of Le Loi's uprising against the Ming invaders in the 15th century. Nearly 600 years ago, the land of Tien Ky commune in particular and Tan Ky district in general was chosen by the Lam Son insurgent army led by Le Loi as a stopover, preparing forces for the process of attacking the Ming army in the western part of Nghe An.

The remaining relics on Tan Ky land today such as Tap Ma beach, Tap Quyen beach, Tu Thuoc field in Nghia Phuc commune; Song Dong Ngoc Nu in Nghia Hop commune; Le Mat trench in Giai Xuan commune... Most notably, the Le Loi citadel relic in Pu Pan mountain in Ke On village, Tien Ky commune has proven that Le Loi's army once stopped in this land to recruit soldiers, train troops and was supported by the people of various ethnic groups with food, elephants, horses...

After the victory over the Ming army, every year on the 19th and 20th of the 8th lunar month, the ethnic people in Tien Ky hold the "Buon Xao" ceremony, the name of the Thai ethnic group's ceremony on the 20th of the lunar month, to commemorate and show gratitude to the Le Loi army and their ancestors who fought against foreign invaders and protected their homeland and country.

The Buon Xao Festival 2018 is held on September 28 and 29 (August 19 and 20, Mau Tuat year), in which the ceremony includes: proclamation ceremony, procession ceremony, sacrifice ceremony, incense offering ceremony, thanksgiving ceremony; the festival includes activities: sports competitions, folk games such as throwing con, pushing sticks, tug of war, cultural exchange, gala, visiting local specialties...

The Buon Xao Festival is held annually as an activity that demonstrates the Vietnamese people's morality of remembering the source of water, which has both spiritual and cultural significance and connects community sentiment. The festival is also an opportunity to educate love for the homeland and country; contributing to preserving and promoting national cultural identity.
