One district has 18 people removed from the Party.

The information was given at the working session of the Da Nang Party Secretary with Thanh Khe district on the morning of March 1.

According to reports from the district level, the number of disciplined party members increased rapidly in 3 years (from 2015 to 2017).

Specifically, since the Da Nang City Party Congress (2015) up to now, 27 party members have been disciplined. In 2015, 5 party members were disciplined, in 2016 the number increased to 9 people, in 2017 it was 13 people.

During these 3 years, there were 19 cases in Thanh Khe asking to leave the Party.

Mr. Nguyen Viet Hung, Deputy Head of the Organizing Committee of the Da Nang City Party Committee, said that this is a noteworthy situation, because Party building work is extremely important.

“The number of people requesting to leave the Party in the district is huge. The reasons need to be clarified. This is something the district must pay close attention to,” Mr. Hung said.

Secretary of the Da Nang City Party Committee Truong Quang Nghia also agreed with Mr. Hung's opinion. Mr. Nghia emphasized the importance of Party building and Party activities, especially at the grassroots level.

He also said that the organization of ward-level cadres, the department closest to the people, needs to be carefully studied. Administrative reform needs to be done practically and effectively.

“Why is Da Nang always at the forefront of administrative reform but its apparatus is still bloated? We must also consider recruitment and appointments,” Mr. Nghia requested.

Pilot administrative reform

Secretary Truong Quang Nghia proposed choosing Thanh Khe district to pilot tax transparency and administrative reform. He also requested to make good use of land and coastline for development.

“A district with so many beaches like this but they are useless. We must review and reclaim public land to retain, including defense land that is being used for the wrong purpose.”

He also asked Thanh Khe district to review and immediately relocate inefficient production facilities.

"Take it back to build schools, hospitals, parks, and focus on calling for investment in public works," the Da Nang Secretary directed.

Director of the Da Nang Department of Construction Vu Quang Hung said that the land fund in Thanh Khe district has been exhausted. According to the roadmap, factories, enterprises and large constructions in the area will have to be relocated. Currently, this district is under great pressure in terms of population density.
