Currently, the country has a total of more than 20,100 accommodation establishments with 400,000 rooms, an increase of more than 1.5 times in the period 2010-2015. Notably, in the period 2010-2015, the number of 3-5 star hotels increased higher than the average growth rate (increased by 16% for 5 star hotels, 14% for 4 star hotels and 13% for 3 star hotels).
By May 2016, the country had 101 5-star hotels, 229 4-star hotels and 463 3-star hotels... Investment from large corporations such as VinGroup, SunGroup, Muong Thanh, FLC, BIM, Tuan Chau... has contributed to the formation of a modern tourism infrastructure system in many localities across the country.
Revoking the star rating of some unqualified hotels is a practical action of the General Department of Tourism to rectify and improve the service quality of accommodation establishments. Previously, the General Department of Tourism also revoked the stars of some hotels in Quang Ninh, Thua Thien - Hue, Khanh Hoa due to poor hygiene, unprofessional staff...
The General Department of Tourism also stated: The system of aviation, ground and seaport infrastructure, together with the developed tourism infrastructure system, has contributed to connecting Vietnamese and international tourist destinations. Currently, there are 52 international airlines from 25 countries and territories with 54 international routes connecting to Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Da Nang and Nha Trang.
Among them, there are many low-cost airlines, providing convenient travel opportunities for tourists. Currently, Vietnam has 48 domestic routes that have closely connected tourist destinations across the country by air.
The expressway system also contributes to improving the connectivity and linkage of tourism development between localities, providing a variety of tourism product choices for visitors. The development of road traffic has brought great opportunities to potential but difficult areas such as the Northern Midlands and Mountains, the Central Highlands and the Mekong Delta.
