Newly adjusted car and motorbike registration fees
The Ministry of Finance has just issued Circular 229/2016/TT-BTC regulating the collection rates, collection, payment and management regimes for fees for registration and license plate issuance of road motor vehicles.
Accordingly, vehicle registration and license plate fees are divided into different levels for 3 regions: Region I includes Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City; Region II includes centrally-run cities (except Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City), provincial cities and towns; Region III includes regions other than Region I and Region II mentioned above.

Organizations and individuals currently residing in an area must pay vehicle registration and license plate fees according to the prescribed rates corresponding to that area. If they are organizations, they must pay fees according to the address of their headquarters stated in their business registration. If they are individuals, they must pay fees according to the address of their permanent residence registration.
This Circular takes effect from January 1, 2017.
