Mr. Bui Thanh Ha said: “We will have discussions with American religious organizations as well as the Committee for Religious Freedom of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and a number of senators and congressmen in the US. Through this, we will understand the religious situation and religious policies in Vietnam. This will clear up questions related to the issue of religious freedom in Vietnam. Through the discussion, I know that many delegates will hear information for the first time and through the opinions of religious delegates, I think they will think and perceive the religious issue in Vietnam in a more correct way.” Members of the delegation, including representatives of major religions in Vietnam such as Buddhism, Cao Dai and Catholicism, also introduced their religions so that the American delegates can have a clearer view of the religious diversity in Vietnam.

American delegates were also interested in Vietnam's draft Law on Belief and Religion and had positive assessments of this draft law.

Bob Roberts, senior pastor of Northwood Baptist Church with 130 churches across the United States, said: “Religions in Vietnam are growing. I see that the Vietnamese government is creating conditions for people to practice their religion. Vietnam is a religious country because you respect your ancestors, Buddhism, Catholicism. In Vietnam, there are all religions. I think that, in my country as well, updating the laws related to religion is important and I think your draft law is a positive step in the right direction.”
