The Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) and its regional partners have prepared a plan to provide more powerful weapons to moderate opposition factions in Syria in case the ceasefire agreement in Syria collapses, the newspaper quoted officials as saying on April 13.
According to the newspaper, the purpose of “Plan B” focuses on equipping opposition forces “with weapons systems that will help them attack Syrian government aircraft and artillery positions.”
According to the newspaper's sources, the CIA assured allies that weapons would be transferred to the appropriate groups only if the ceasefire and domestic political process (known as "Plan A") collapsed and fighting resumed.
Previously, US officials also revealed another option called "Plan B" if the ceasefire plan fails, but did not provide details./.
