The US Air Force said on October 19 that it had just increased its munitions stockpile on Guam Island by 10%, with 816,393 bombs and missiles of various types worth $95 million brought to Andersen Air Force Base on the island, Sputnik reported.

"The new ammunition delivered to Guam ensures combat readiness in the Pacific theater and accomplishes the nation's objectives. It also enhances combat training and warfighting reserves," said Major Erik Schimid, commander of the 36th Air Force's technical logistics unit based in Guam.

General Terrence O'Shaughnessy, commander of US Air Forces in the Pacific, said that the threat from North Korea's nuclear and ballistic missile programs remains very serious, affirming that the US military is always ready to fight if the country chooses a military solution.

Guam is an important US outpost in the Pacific.Strategic air assets stationed at Andersen base help maintain the presence of US bombers in the Asia-Pacific region, helping to demonstrate the power of Washington and its allies against Pyongyang.

North Korea has threatened to launch multiple missiles into the waters around the island in response to threats from US President Donald Trump.
