Nearly 5,000 delegates are expected to attend the 41st Republican National Convention. The event will take place over four days, from July 18-21.
The 41st Republican National Convention will be the highlight of the fourth day (July 21). With the slogan “Bringing America Together Again,” it is likely that candidate Trump and Republican leaders will outline policy views and leadership paths to help the United States overcome current challenges and “Make America Great Again.”
This year's Republican National Convention also saw deep divisions as a number of prominent officials and politicians, including Senator John McCain, Ohio Governor John Kasich, former 2012 presidential candidate Mitt Romney and members of the famous Bush family, all announced that they would not attend the convention to protest Donald Trump becoming the party's presidential candidate. Outside the Quicken Loans Arena, thousands of people also protested against Trump.
After the recent primary election campaign, billionaire Donald Trump won overwhelmingly and became the only candidate at the Republican Party convention. In theory, the convention can still nominate another candidate for a vote. However, this possibility is very low and it is almost certain that Mr. Trump will be given the party's ticket to participate in the presidential election in November. Previously, Mr. Trump also announced that he chose Indiana Governor Mike Pence as his running mate for Vice President.
Following the Republicans, the Democrats will also hold their convention from July 25-28 in Philadelphia to elect presidential and vice presidential candidates.
