The New York Times quoted a report by the US Congressional Research Service (CRS) saying that in 2015, the US signed arms sales contracts with a total revenue of 40.2 billion USD, holding the first position in the list of countries - military goods exporters.
The next largest arms exporters are France, Russia, China and Sweden. Of these, Russia saw a slight decrease from 11.2 billion to 11.1 billion USD.
Notably, 81% of the arms ($65 billion) were sold to developing countries, concentrated in the Middle East and Asia.
South Korea imported $5.4 billion in weapons, ranking fourth among the largest arms importers, with weapons supplies mainly coming from its ally the United States.
In which Russia's interest began to turn to Latin American countries.
However, the CRS report also noted that despite world tensions and the threat from terrorism, the volume of arms trade worldwide fell from $89 billion in 2014 to $80 billion in 2015.
