The Pentagon has sent an additional unit to support coalition troops holding the at-Tanf outpost in southeastern Syria, Fox News reported, citing Defense Department sources.

The US increases its military presence in Syria.

More than one hundred marines have been deployed to the area.

Washington is reportedly increasing its military presence in the region amid warnings from Russia that Moscow is preparing an attack on militants hiding in the area.

"The United States does not seek confrontation with Russia, with the Syrian government, or with any other group that may be supporting Syria in its civil war," the TV channel quoted US Central Command spokesman William Urban.
