US expected to announce new $3 billion military aid package for Ukraine
A US official said that on August 24 (US time), the US will announce a new security assistance package worth 3 billion USD for Ukraine. This will be the largest US aid package for Ukraine since Russia launched a special military campaign here 6 months ago.
The latest US aid package is expected to be announced on Ukraine’s Independence Day on August 24. The aid will use funds from the Ukraine Security Assistance Initiative, approved by Congress to allow the Biden administration to purchase weapons for Ukraine instead of drawing from US stockpiles.
Washington has provided $10.6 billion in military aid to Ukraine since Russia launched its military campaign there on February 24.

In a related development, the US Embassy in Kiev warned of the possibility of Russia increasing military attacks in Ukraine in the coming days, especially around Ukraine's Independence Day on August 24.
The US Embassy said that the State Department has information that Russia is increasing its efforts to carry out attacks on civilian and government facilities in Ukraine in the coming days. The US Embassy also advised US citizens to leave Ukraine using safety measures.
