“At the summit, we will develop a series of concrete proposals to increase pressure on Russia and demonstrate our collective support for Ukraine,” the official said on June 22.

According to the same source, at the summit scheduled to be held from June 26 to June 28, Mr. Biden will participate in 7 working sessions, according to the plan to address issues related to Ukraine, energy security, global economy, climate, along with other topics.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky will also attend meetings with G7 leaders to discuss efforts to support Ukraine amid Russia's ongoing military campaign.

G7 leaders are also expected to discuss steps to reduce Russian energy revenues, while stabilizing global energy markets and minimizing disruptions.

Additionally, Mr. Biden is scheduled to meet with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz to kick off a visit to Germany and Spain for the G7 and NATO summits.

“At the beginning of the trip, President Biden will meet with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz. Of course, Germany is holding the G7 presidency this year, so this will be a good opportunity for the US President to first check the signals with the German side, as well as affirm the deep, long-standing relationship between the two countries and continue to coordinate on a wide range of global challenges,” a US administration official told reporters.

The G7 summit will take place in Germany, while Spain will host the NATO summit in Madrid from June 28-30. During his visit to Europe, US President Biden will attend the two summits and hold bilateral meetings with many world leaders.

NATO unveils new commitments at Madrid summit

Sputnik also cited a senior official in the Washington apparatus as saying that the North Atlantic group of countries is expected to announce new commitments on force deployment to strengthen the deterrence posture of this military alliance.

“The leaders will announce new force posture commitments to enhance NATO's deterrence and defense posture,” the official said.

In addition, NATO leaders will support a new strategic concept to address challenges to Euro-Atlantic security, including Russia and China.

NATO allies will also use the Madrid summit as an opportunity to discuss efforts to ensure the alliance has the resources it needs to deliver on its commitments, including increased defense spending.

NATO leaders are also expected to hear from Ukrainian President Zelensky during the summit, to review the alliance's collective support for Ukraine.
