On January 15, in an interview with the Financial Times, US Deputy Secretary of State Victoria Nuland said that the US wants to continue dialogue with Russia; at the same time, she affirmed that Washington is preparing a written response to Moscow's proposals to ensure Russia's security.

Ms. Nuland said that dialogue with Russia should be based on "reciprocity"; at the same time, she said that the US is ready to offer a diplomatic solution to the current tension. According to Ms. Nuland, the two countries listened to each other in the negotiations that took place on January 10, but reaching any agreement will need more time.

Previously, after the Russia-NATO Conference, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken and Secretary General of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) Jens Stoltenberg also had a discussion, emphasizing that Washington and this military alliance are ready to continue negotiations with Moscow.

However, in a recent statement on the future of negotiations with the US and NATO, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that the opportunity to continue negotiations depends on the West's response to Moscow's proposals. Moscow officials also said that the US and NATO allies' unwillingness to respond to Russia's important proposals on security guarantees has caused the negotiations to stall.
