US must 'race' and NATO 'try to reduce tensions' as Russia increases military in the Arctic
The Secretary General of the North Atlantic Alliance, Jens Stoltenberg, announced that Russia is increasing its military presence in the Arctic.
Mr Stoltenberg visited Iceland on Tuesday, NATO's press service released a recording of his press conference with the Icelandic prime minister.

“We also discussed the situation in the north… We must try to continue working to maintain a low level of tension in the high north, despite the fact that we see a greater military presence, especially the potential of Russia,” the NATO Secretary General said.
Earlier, US President John Bolton's national security adviser said that the United States was about to establish a year-round presence in the Arctic, as new US icebreakers would be put into operation.
