US hunts for man who hung Putin banner in middle of bridge

(Baonghean.vn) - On October 6, New York City police are investigating who hung a giant banner with a portrait of Russian President Vladimir Putin on the Manhattan Bridge in New York.

The 6x10 meter banner was erected on the outside of the Manhattan Bridge, featuring President Putin in a suit with the words "Messenger of Peace" on the Russian flag.

The New York City Police Department received a call about the banner at 2:45 p.m. local time on October 6 and took it down about half an hour later.

"There are no details yet on the motive or the identity of the person who did it. Everything needs to be investigated further," said a spokesman for the department.

Police have not yet arrested the perpetrator who hung the banner, but are reviewing video footage recorded by surveillance cameras on the bridge and in nearby areas to identify the suspect.

A similar incident previously took place in 2014, when a large Palestinian flag was flown over the Manhattan Bridge by a group of protesters.
