US ready to negotiate with Russia-China-North Korea on reducing nuclear weapons
The US has expressed its willingness to negotiate with Russia, China and North Korea on reducing nuclear weapons.

According to RIA Novosti on October 14, US President Joe Biden said that the world needs to make efforts to completely eliminate nuclear arsenals, and affirmed that the US is ready to negotiate with Russia, China and North Korea on reducing nuclear weapons. However, Mr. Biden did not disclose the significant costs to the US government for the development and consolidation of its own nuclear triad.
“We must continue to work toward the day when we can finally and permanently eliminate nuclear weapons from the world. The United States is ready to negotiate with Russia, China, and North Korea without preconditions to reduce the nuclear threat,” President Joe Biden said in a statement.
The US leader stressed that there is no benefit for these countries and the world in general in “obstructing the process of reducing nuclear arsenals”.
At the same time, the US President did not mention that the US administration continues to actively direct funds to strengthen their nuclear triad.
In fiscal year 2025, which begins on October 1, 2024, the federal budget plans to spend more than $49 billion on developing strategic deterrence forces. Furthermore, according to calculations by the US Congressional Budget Office, spending on the country's nuclear forces in the period from 2023 to 2032 is estimated at about $756 billion.
The current US administration, led by US President Joe Biden and Vice President, now a candidate for the Democratic Party in the election race - Kamala Harris, has repeatedly expressed its desire to extend the US-Russia Strategic Arms Treaty (START). START is due to expire in February 2026.
