According to the US Secretary of State, since it took effect three months ago, the grain deal has helped bring 9 million tons of food to the global market and has helped “reduce prices around the world.” In addition to emphasizing that the initiative signed in Istanbul “is a success and must continue,” Mr. Blinken also reiterated the US accusation that Russia “weaponized food” when making the above decision.
Russia's Deputy Permanent Representative to the UN Dmitry Polyanskiy said on October 29 that his country has requested a Security Council meeting on October 31 to discuss allegations that Ukraine used unmanned vehicles to attack ships and infrastructure of the Black Sea Fleet in Crimea, prompting Moscow to decide to suspend its participation in the grain deal./.
