The US looks forward to the restoration of the Nord Stream operation.
The United States is counting on the restoration of the Nord Stream gas pipeline as a factor in ensuring European energy security in the short term, State Department spokesman Ned Price said.

“Nord Stream” is certainly an important factor in this... We have noted, evaluate them as you wish, public statements that Gazprom will fulfill existing contracts,” he said at a press conference, answering a question about whether he really believes that the pipeline will help replenish Europe's gas reserves.
In the short term, until Europe reduces its dependence on Russian energy, “the resumption of gas supplies will allow Germany and other countries on the continent to replenish reserves, enhancing energy security and sustainability,” Mr Price added.
Project “Nord Stream”
Nord Stream, Gazprom’s main gas pipeline to Europe, was shut down on July 11 for scheduled maintenance, which was due to be completed on July 21. Meanwhile, since mid-June, Russian gas exports via the pipeline have been limited – to just 40% of its capacity, or nearly 170 million cubic meters.
Russia has repeatedly stressed that the reason for the supply cut is simply the sanctions that have caused problems with the repair of Siemens gas pumps. Specifically, Canada only announced on July 10 that it would allow one of the pumps to leave the country.
