Termite mushrooms cost more than half a million VND per kilogram and still attract customers

Although the first season of termite mushrooms costs 600,000 VND per kilogram, restaurants have difficulty buying them because the quantity this year is too small.

In recent days, termite mushrooms have unexpectedly entered season in rubber plantations and gardens in Long Khanh, Dinh Quan, Thong Nhat, Long Thanh (Dong Nai) after the rains.

According to some traders at Long Khanh market, this year termite mushrooms appeared later and less than in previous years due to the prolonged drought. This is the biggest termite mushroom season this year. Over the past three days, the price of this type of mushroom has skyrocketed from VND300,000 to VND600,000 per kilogram. "Although the price is sky-high compared to previous years, we still have no goods to sell due to high demand," said Ms. Hai, a trader at Long Khanh market.

Outside the market, along the national highways there are many rubber plantations such as 20, 56, DT 769..., many people display termite mushrooms on the roadside to sell to passersby.

"Termite mushrooms are a gift from heaven. They only grow after each typical rainy season in the Eastern region, but they only last for 2-3 days and then disappear. You have to wait for the next season, which is about half a month, so not everyone who wants to buy them can buy them," revealed Ms. Lan, a resident of Binh Son commune, Long Thanh district.
