This year the Prime Minister did not wish New Year greetings to the Government Office
The Prime Minister immediately got to work. The entire executive branch followed suit.
On the first working day after Tet holiday, agencies, offices, and factories often organize Tet greetings to gain momentum for a year of work and production. As usual, the Prime Minister will wish the Government Office a Happy New Year on this day. But this year, the head of the Government chose a different schedule. He left Hanoi early in the morning to visit farmers in the coastal area of Nam Dinh, returned to the capital to visit and wish Tet to two major banks, and ended the working day with a late afternoon meeting with ministries and branches to deploy work after Tet.

Compared to other countries and territories celebrating Lunar New Year, Vietnam is the leader in terms of Tet holiday time. We had a warm and joyful Tet, people were excited, purchasing power increased but we cannot continue to prolong the Tet atmosphere when the first quarter of 2018 is about to pass.
Whatever you say, a country with an average income per capita of more than 2,300 USD/year is not too exciting and we have to think seriously when our labor productivity is at the bottom of the Southeast Asian region.
Last year, we achieved many outstanding achievements in many fields, but "We are absolutely not complacent or satisfied; we are not intoxicated with achievements and victories. Do not rest on your laurels because the country still faces many difficulties and challenges", as the General Secretary pointed out at the online conference between the Government and localities at the end of 2017.
The Prime Minister immediately got to work. The entire executive branch also looked at it and acted accordingly. On the first working day of the new year, in the meeting of the Government Standing Committee with a number of ministries and branches or in Official Dispatch 240/CD-TTg, the Prime Minister requested ministries and branches to immediately deploy specific tasks according to the motto that the Government had set for 2018: "Discipline, integrity, action, creativity, efficiency".
The highest goal is to maintain macroeconomic stability, prevent inflation from rising, ensure security, order and social safety, and strictly handle negative behaviors at festivals. The Prime Minister also mentioned continuing to reform administrative procedures, improving the investment and business environment to create excitement for people and businesses at the beginning of the year, liberating production capacity, creating conditions for development in 2018 and the following years. Once again, the Prime Minister had to remind about administrative discipline, labor discipline, organizing spring trips, using public vehicles to go to festivals, etc.
Strictly implement the Prime Minister's Directive through the example of leaders, the movement of working levels, and the integrity and shame of officials and civil servants...

The Prime Minister did not extend New Year greetings to the Government Office as usual, which did not affect the work of this agency much. However, the actions and strong instructions of the head of the Government on the first working day of the new year had a great impact on the executive apparatus, from the central to local levels./.
