Can Tho male student equals Olympia's 19-year record
Nguyen Ba Vinh became the third contestant of Road to Olympia to achieve 460 points, after Phan Dang Nhat Minh and Huynh Nguyen Hong Chien.
The Road to Olympia contest, week three, month two, quarter three, aired on April 28 with the competition of four contestants: Huynh Nhut Khoa (Duy Tan High School, Phu Yen), Nguyen Ba Vinh (Ly Tu Trong High School for the Gifted, Can Tho), Hoang Thanh Tung (Cao Ba Quat High School, Hanoi) and Chu Duc Trung (Duong Quang Ham High School, Hung Yen).
Among them, Nguyen Ba Vinh made the whole studio burst into tears when he achieved 460 points - the highest score in the 19-year history of the Road to Olympia. Previously, only two contestants had achieved this: Huynh Nguyen Hong Chien (Le Quy Don High School, Ninh Thuan, Olympia contestant of the 15th year) and Phan Dang Nhat Minh (Hai Lang High School, Quang Tri, Olympia champion of the 17th year).
Right from the Warm-up round, Ba Vinh showed his quickness when completing 12 questions, of which 9 were correct, earning 90 points. Thanh Tung got 70 points, Duc Trung 50 and Nhut Khoa 30 points.
Moving on to the Obstacle Course, the Can Tho male student quickly pressed the bell to answer the 18-letter obstacle right after a horizontal line of clues and a corner of the image were revealed. The answer "Ho Chi Minh Campaign" brought Ba Vinh an additional 80 points.
Leaving the second-placed contestant behind by 90 points, Ba Vinh was even more confident in accelerating. After four questions, he scored 110 points and continued to lead with 280 points. Meanwhile, Thanh Tung had 150 points, Duc Trung 90 points and Nhut Khoa 40 points after this third round.
Almost reaching the laurel wreath, Ba Vinh still showed great determination when he reached the finish line. Before entering his round, Vinh won 30 more points from the question package of the previous contestant. Then, he chose the 80-point package. Answering a 20-point question correctly and using the star of hope correctly in the 30-point English question, Vinh raised his total score to 390.
Not stopping there, the representative of Ly Tu Trong High School for the Gifted continued to score points from the question packages of the two finalists. In the end, he scored 460 points. The entire studio applauded and cheered when the MC announced that the male student had reached the record of the program for the past 19 years.

"Winning the record is beyond my expectations. I hope to maintain this spirit in the monthly competition," said Ba Vinh. The remaining students: Nhat Khoa got no points, Thanh Tung got 140 points, Duc Trung got 80 points.
With a convincing victory, Nguyen Ba Vinh will participate in the second month, third quarter competition with three other contestants: Nguyen Dai Nghia (Gifted High School, Ho Chi Minh City National University) - first in week one with only 260 points, Vu Van Thanh (Diem Thuy High School, Thai Nguyen) - first in week two with 250 points, and Nguyen Van Loc (Le Quy Don High School for the Gifted, Ba Ria - Vung Tau) - second in the highest score with 210 points.
