Deaf-mute young man pleads guilty to murdering 11-year-old girl

Cuong confessed to all his crimes. Because he was born deaf and mute, the investigation agency had to ask Cuong's teacher to act as an interpreter.

After 6 days of searching, using professional measures, Hai Phong City Police identified the perpetrator as Bui Manh Cuong, (17 years old), Thanh Tri village, Kien Thiet commune, Tien Lang district.

On the morning of May 21, Cuong confessed to all his crimes. Because he was born deaf and mute, the investigation agency had to ask Cuong's deaf teacher to act as an interpreter.

Cuong confessed that on the evening of May 13, he passed Nhi's alley and met her standing at the gate. They had an argument (Cuong's house is 200 meters from Nhi's house), then Cuong left.

At 8:00 p.m. on May 14, Cuong rode his bike to Nhi's house, climbed the wall to enter the house, and saw Nhi sitting at the door. When Cuong approached, Nhi reacted and chased him away. Cuong went outside, picked up a brick, approached Yen Nhi, and attacked her until she passed out. Cuong then took the phone from Yen Nhi's pocket (while climbing the wall, Cuong dropped the phone).

The teacher is interpreting for Cuong.

Cuong's entire testimony is consistent with the results of the examination of traces left at the scene.

According to Colonel Le Hong Thang, Head of the Criminal Investigation Department of Hai Phong City Police, Cuong is a congenital deaf mute, and his family sent him to a deaf mute school.

The teacher who directly taught Cuong said that during his time at school, Cuong was a naughty student, often got into fights, and is currently a worker at a local garment company.

Previously, at 9:00 p.m. on May 14, Nguyen Thi Yen Nhi, 11 years old, daughter of Mr. Nguyen Van Muoi and Mrs. Tran Thi Nhu in Thanh Tri village, Kien Thiet commune, Tien Lang district, Hai Phong was murdered at home.

The case is being further investigated by Hai Phong City Police.
