Young man tragically drowned while backpacking on holiday

A young man was drowned while swimming with a group of friends in Long Van lagoon, Huong Son commune (My Duc, Hanoi).

The incident happened at 12:30 on April 30, a group of 3 or 4 young people went to Long Van lagoon, Huong Son commune, My Duc district, Hanoi to swim. A few minutes later, one of the young people drowned.

Receiving the call for help, local people rushed to rescue him but the young man died shortly thereafter.

Regarding the above incident, on the morning of May 1, Mr. Nguyen Tuan Anh, Chairman of the People's Committee of Huong Son commune confirmed that there was a drowning incident that caused the death of a young man in the area.

According to Mr. Tuan, at around 1:00 p.m. on April 30, the commune leaders received a report from the people. Immediately after, the unit was present at the scene where the incident occurred.

The victim who died from drowning was identified as Ngo Quang Tr. (born 2000, residing in Thuong Thanh ward, Long Bien district, Hanoi).

According to this Chairman, "According to initial information, 1 day before (April 29), Tr.'s group of 8 people including 6 men and 2 women invited each other to go on a trip and visit a friend's house in Ung Hoa district.

The next day, the group climbed the mountain to play until noon and then went down to Van Long lagoon for lunch. At 12:30, Tr. invited a few friends to go swimming. However, after swimming a short distance, the young man got a cramp and drowned.

“Immediately after that, we reported the incident to the district police and the prosecutor's office went to the scene to investigate and clarify the cause.

At around 3pm the same day, the victim’s relatives arrived at the scene and said the victim died from drowning, so the family filed a petition to have the child released for burial. After that, the authorities handed over the victim to his family,” Mr. Tuan informed.
