These photos were quickly spread widely by netizens and received many responses disagreeing with the barbaric act of killing monkeys. Upon receiving the information, Hoang Mai Town Police coordinated with Hoang Mai Forest Protection Department to go to Chu Van Cuong's private home to work. At Cuong's private home, the authorities also discovered and seized a falcon kept in an iron cage. Afterwards, Mr. Thuan was summoned by the police to give his statement.
Based on the investigation results, Cuong and Mr. Thuan were administratively sanctioned under Decree 157 on Regulations on sanctioning administrative violations in forest management, forest protection and forest product management. Specifically, for the acts of "illegally buying wild animals" and "illegally killing wild animals", Mr. Le Ba Thuan was administratively sanctioned with an amount of 12.7 million VND.
