Improve training quality to meet new requirements

(Baonghean) - Along with the development of Vinh University, in 2003, the Faculty of Economics was established. Since then, the Faculty has continuously developed its education and training career at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels with many different training majors, providing society with thousands of Economics bachelors, contributing to the development of the country.

On April 25, 2001, the Prime Minister signed Decision No. 62/2001/QD-TTg to change the name of Vinh University of Education to Vinh University. This important political event marked a new period of multi-disciplinary and multi-field development of Vinh University of Education in the context of a 40-year tradition of training teachers for the national education cause. After nearly 2 years, on February 24, 2003, at the request of Vinh University, the Minister of Education and Training signed Decision No. 870/BGD&DT - TCCB to establish the Faculty of Economics and was allowed to enroll the first Business Administration major (Course 44) in the 2003-2004 school year.

During its construction and development, the Faculty of Economics has always identified training as a fundamental and vital activity. In particular, the university training system is considered the backbone training system of the Faculty of Economics. Since the establishment of the Faculty of Economics, the Faculty has been assigned the task of training Bachelor of Economics in the fields of Accounting, Business Administration, Finance - Banking, Economics. After 15 years of implementing the training task, the Faculty of Economics has contributed to training for the country over 500 masters, 6,000 full-time bachelors of economics and 5,560 part-time bachelors of economics.

Currently, the Faculty has 5 regular university training codes with 7 majors (Investment Economics, Agricultural Economics, Accounting, Business Administration, Banking Finance, Corporate Finance, Commercial Banking), 1 high-quality university major (Business Administration). The Faculty is implementing regular university training, part-time study, distance learning, 2nd degree, and also organizes short-term certificate training such as Chief Accountant certificate; Accounting... Since the 2016 - 2017 school year, the Faculty has been building regular training programs for majors following the CDIO approach. The Faculty's training program always combines training with use, suitable for the human resource needs of organizations and businesses. After each graduating class, the Scientific Council has a policy to adjust the knowledge content and framework accordingly.

The regular university training activities of the Faculty of Economics are always carried out in accordance with regulations and plans. Teaching, learning, testing and assessment activities are organized in a fundamental, scientific, fair and objective manner.

For the postgraduate training system, the Faculty identifies this as one of the key and long-term strategic tasks. The Board of Directors, Departments and teaching staff have made great efforts to improve the quality of training. Since 2012, the Ministry of Education and Training has allowed Vinh University to provide postgraduate training in Economics. Up to now, the Faculty of Economics has 2 master's training majors (Political Economics, Economic Management), 1 doctoral training major (Economic Management).

The training of lecturers is always focused on by the Party Committee and the Faculty Board and considered a key task, deciding the success or failure of the training career. Every year, the Faculty of Economics sends dozens of staff to study for PhD and Master's degrees domestically and abroad. Up to now, the Faculty of Economics has 60 staff, including: 1 Associate Professor, PhD, 20 PhDs, 23 PhDs, 14 Masters, in the fields of Economics, Business Administration, Accounting, Finance - Banking, 2 administrative staff studying for postgraduate degrees. It is estimated that by 2020, 50% of the staff in the faculty will have a PhD degree, 100% of the staff will have a Master's degree.

Along with training, the Faculty focuses on scientific research activities, with 4 ministerial-level topics, 4 provincial-level topics and 35 school-level topics. In addition, an average of 80 articles are published each year and many articles are published in the Science Proceedings. The Faculty successfully organized a Scientific Conference to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Faculty of Economics in 2013, 1 Business Forum with students, 12 presentations by experts, managers, and businesses inside and outside the province: the presentations are all related to the expertise and socio-economic development of Nghe An and the North Central region. In addition to the scientific research activities of the teaching staff, the Faculty of Economics also focuses on promoting the scientific research movement of students. Every year at the beginning of the school year, the Faculty organizes a Good Study Conference for teachers and students to help first-year students with learning and research methods; Organize scientific conferences for students, encourage students to participate in the Ministry-level Student Scientific Research Award.

Along with that, the Faculty has cooperative relationships with many businesses in Nghe An such as inviting businesses to participate in teaching, building training programs, scientific seminars, cultural and artistic activities, and sports. Businesses support the Faculty for students to do internships, provide scholarships for students, and after graduation, if students need to work.

Currently, the Faculty of Economics has been cooperating with a number of domestic and international agencies and organizations to implement a number of scientific research projects on economic development and international economic integration; sending staff to study and research at a number of universities in countries such as the UK, the US, Thailand, China, Japan, Poland, India, Australia, New Zealand, etc.

In addition, the Faculty has cooperative relations with universities and research institutes in the field of economics such as: National Economics University, Academy of Finance, Foreign Trade University, Banking Academy, University of Commerce, Ho Chi Minh City University of Economics, Hong Duc University, Ha Tinh University, Central Institute for Economic Research, Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Department of Planning and Investment, Department of Finance, Department of Industry and Trade, Tax Department... in the provinces of the North Central region.

During the 15 years of construction and development, the Faculty of Economics has been highly appreciated and recognized by the Party Committee of the School through its achievements: Excellent advanced labor collective every year; Good labor collective; many Certificates of Merit from the Chairman of the People's Committee of Nghe An province; Certificates of Merit from the Minister of Education and Training; Certificates of Merit from the Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union...

15 years is a historical milestone, a premise, a solid foundation for the Faculty of Economics to step forward with the goal of building the Faculty of Economics into the University of Economics under Vinh University. In the near future, the Faculty of Economics will expand diverse training directions and forms, continue to develop to adapt to new conditions and circumstances, meet new development requirements, be suitable for the needs and development of society, open up job opportunities for students, meet the needs of employers in the period of national innovation, on the one hand, contribute to the industrialization and modernization of the country.
