On the morning of April 22, the Department of Industrial Safety Techniques and Environment - Ministry of Industry and Trade held a conference to disseminate legal documents on safety in mineral exploitation and processing. Attending were leaders of the Department of Industrial Safety Techniques and Environment, Nghe An Department of Industry and Trade and leaders of Departments of Industry and Trade of provinces and cities across the country.

The conference aims to provide information and solutions to strengthen State management at localities on technical safety and environment in mineral exploitation and processing, and the management and use of industrial explosives.
This is also an opportunity for State management agencies and units operating in the field of mineral exploitation and processing to exchange and share management experiences and propose and recommend amendments to inappropriate regulations in legal documents.
Speaking at the conference, Mr. To Xuan Bao - Director of the Department of Industrial Safety Techniques and Environment emphasized: In recent times, unitsmineral exploitation and processingNationwide, the regulations in legal documents in the field of mineral exploitation have basically been implemented relatively well. However, the level of implementation and voluntary implementation as well as the management effectiveness of legal documents are still limited.
The most common is that there are still many violations of safety techniques leading to accidents and incidents; regulations on mineral resource management are not strictly implemented; the values and benefits of resources are still wasted and not fully exploited, the reason is that local State management agencies and enterprises do not clearly understand and fully and correctly apply the regulations in legal documents.

Mr. Pham Van Hoa - Director of Nghe An Department of Industry and Trade said: Mineral resources in Nghe An province are diverse and scattered, especially rare minerals (gold, tin, precious stones...), raw materials for cement production, construction materials, white marble for industrial minerals and fine art production. Speaking of minerals in Nghe An province, the main mineral is white stone. (Quy Hop district is considered the area with the largest white stone mineral in the country with white limestone reserves of nearly 1 billion m3).
In recent years, the mining and mineral processing industry in Nghe An province has developed quite rapidly. Mining technology applies advanced technologies.
Along with great contributions to the economic development process in the province, for many different reasons, mineral exploitation and processing activities inNghe AnThere are still some places where labor safety is not guaranteed, environmental pollution occurs, affecting the property and lives of workers, and affecting and disrupting the quality of life of people living around areas where mineral exploitation and processing activities occur.
Faced with the risk of occupational safety and environmental pollution in mineral exploitation and processing, the People's Committee of Nghe An province has resolutely directed departments, branches and local authorities to strengthen management to restore order in this field of activity, especially focusing on propaganda and dissemination of legal documents; organizing training and technical training on occupational safety and inspection and examination activities to promptly detect, correct and strictly handle violations according to the provisions of law.![]() |

At the conference, representatives of the Department of Industrial Safety and Environment, the Departments of Industry and Trade and enterprises in the mining sector presented papers as well as exchanged and shared experiences, difficulties and problems in the management and exploitation and processing of minerals in each locality. The ultimate goal is to contribute to helping the Vietnamese mining industry ensure safety and environmental friendliness.
