Winter-spring rice yield in Con Cuong is the highest ever

(Baonghean.vn) - This year's winter-spring rice crop in Con Cuong district achieved the highest yield ever.

Mr. Tran Khac Si, Head of Con Cuong Agriculture Department, said: This season, Con Cuong planted over 1,900 hectares of rice, and at this time, people are harvesting, with an estimated yield of over 57 quintals/ha (the highest ever, 3 quintals/ha higher than the 2015 season). In particular, some localities achieved high yields such as Mon Son and Luc Da, reaching over 60 quintals/ha.

To achieve this result, in addition to weather factors, the district, commune, functional agencies and people actively prevented and promptly controlled rice pests, and suppressed leaf roller epidemics in some communes.

The district has directed communes to introduce high-yield varieties such as Thien Uu 8, Nhi Uu 838, NA6, etc. into production and to take care of crops according to technical procedures. Currently, the district's professional agencies are advising people to take advantage of favorable weather to focus on harvesting rice and freeing up favorable land for growing crops. It is expected that the harvest will be completed by October 25.
