"This week, our military experts decided to implement a new military strategy for the alliance," NATO Secretary General Stoltenberg affirmed.
According to him, the reason for this move is the "nuclear threat" from Russia aimed at many Western countries. In addition, the organization is also facing many new challenges in the East and South, Mr. Stoltenberg said.
“The issue here is to continue to be fully prepared for defense and to ensure stability. This partly requires new military concepts,” he added.
NATO representatives have repeatedly accused Moscow of developing plans to use nuclear weapons. For example, in March, NATO's Allied Commander in Europe, General Curtis Scaparotti, said that a preemptive missile strike would allow Moscow to achieve "a quick victory over weaker neighbors." However, he did not provide any evidence to support his words.
