(Baonghean.vn) - Recently, Mr. Nguyen Hup - Chairman of Quang Nam Club said that in the complicated situation of the Covid-19 epidemic, V.League 2020 should be canceled. Currently, VPF has not responded to this opinion.

Due to the unpredictable developments of the Covid-19 pandemic, V.League 2020 after 2 rounds had to be postponed until the end of March. Currently, most Vietnamese clubs have regrouped and continue to monitor the situation and receive notices from the Organizing Committee to be ready if the tournament is resumed.

However, on the side of the Quang Nam Club's leadership, this team still maintains the view that V.League 2020 should be canceled. Accordingly, Mr. Nguyen Hup - Chairman of this club said: "Health needs to be put first. It's okay if there is no football. I propose to cancel V-League 2020. We will continue playing next year."

Mr. Nguyen Hup explained: “In my personal opinion, the health of the players, the members of the tournament, and the entire community is the most important factor, must be put first and foremost. If the upcoming rounds still take place and the epidemic situation does not improve, it will be difficult for the players to play well and improve their performance.”

Currently, EURO has also been canceled this summer and moved to next year due to Covid-19. Other major tournaments such as the Champions League, European national championships have also been postponed, even canceled. The matches of the 2022 World Cup Qualifiers in Asia have been postponed to the end of 2020.

The statement of the Chairman of Quang Nam Club has caused a controversy with many different opinions and views. Firstly, the V.League 2020 will directly affect the tournament, the interests of sponsors, and the units that own television copyrights.

After that, professional clubs not only stopped all activities but also had a significant impact on ticket sales revenue, especially clubs with large audiences such as HAGL, Nam Dinh, and Hanoi. This was also the view that VPF Chairman - Mr. Tran Anh Tu put forward not long ago.

Meanwhile, V.League clubs are currently spending about 40-50 billion VND to invest in recruiting foreign players, paying salaries for players, officials, and employees in a season. Of course, not many teams agree to pay billions of VND to foreign players to return home.

Not playing means that players will not receive any winning bonuses, while this is almost their main source of income. Even sponsors of clubs will be affected in terms of image and benefits when V.League 2020 is canceled.

Second, in terms of expertise, V.League is the backbone of a football industry, a place where players compete and maintain their form. For coach Park Hang-seo, this is an environment for him to search, select, and evaluate national team players, from which he can make plans for the team at the end of the year. If the V.League ball does not roll, the players will certainly lose their form. Not to mention the consequences and negative aspects when players live in a state of idleness.

Currently, the postponement of V.League 2020 has caused many difficulties for clubs. Technical Director of SLNA Club - Mr. Nguyen Duc Thang shared: "With this situation, V.League 2020 will be prolonged and it is not known when the tournament will return, so the training plan of SLNA as well as other teams is facing many difficulties".

Returning to the option of V.League continuing to play without spectators, the former SLNA head coach said: “If football is played without spectators, it will be very boring and the quality of the matches will not be high. In the world, in England, in Spain, there have been such matches, but when the epidemic is a problem for all participants, not just the spectators.

The team members themselves are also at risk when traveling from one city to another. On flights, there are likely to be people traveling from epidemic areas to Vietnam. Currently, we are forced to wait for instructions from the Vietnam Football Federation as well as the V.League Organizing Committee."
